Well, my vacation is over. Tomorrow I get up at 5 AM to open the weight room for some of our athletes so that we can crank up our early morning lifting again. Hopefully we get a good turn out. I am a little bummed that my Christmas vacation is over but on the other hand I am ready to get back to a routine again. I miss my students and school. I am not sure I miss getting up super early in the morning but really after I get up I really enjoy starting the day without anyone else at school. I can get a ton of things done in my classroom prior to the students showing up.
It has been a great vacation. I had a great time traveling to visit family in Chicago and wish that we could have stayed a little longer. I miss hanging out with them and just visiting. I had an awesome Christmas this year. I absolutely loved being with family on Christmas Day. Christmas is such a magical time. It brings back such great memories from my childhood. It is also makes me realize that we are making such great memories for our kids. The part I liked most about the vacation was just having the opportunity to hang out with my family here at home. From going and hitting with Owen at Extra Innings to catching for Ally while she was pitching to coaching Annika's youth basketball team. It was a blast. It was also good to have quality time with my wife Julie. Too many times it seems that life gets going and even though we live in the same house we may not see each other except for in the morning and the evening. It was great to wake up each morning and have a cup of coffee with her.
It was a great vacation. I really value my family and the life they pour into me with the love that we share.
Lord,
Thank you so much for blessing me with the people you have surrounded me with. I am an amazingly blessed man. I thank you so much for the love we share. Help me to serve them in a way that would bring a smile to your face. Help me to be patient and loving as a father and husband. Guide me in my teaching and give me your vision so that I can recognize students in need. Help me to know what to do and say when the time presents itself. Help me to be an active listener so that I can actually hear and understand the needs of those around me. Bless my family as they all start school up tomorrow. Help them to turn to you throughout the day. I love you Jesus. You are my King.
Love in Christ
Scott
